Challenge Course

Group Packages

Experiential education has been creating positive, team-focused environments for years. The Pathways Challenge Course has a lot to offer your group, and we work with families, youth, adults, schools, businesses and more! From 3 hours to 3 days, we’ll work with you to create an experience to meet your needs.  Read more about what the Pathways Challenge Course can do for your group! Working with trained facilitators, your group members will have to put the group’s goals above their individual goals in order to accomplish the challenges presented to them.

Church Groups

Practice self-sacrifice when working through difficult tasks. Use metaphors from the safety equipment and apply them to the spiritual journey of your group. Allow others to push themselves beyond what they though they could do by creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Group members will learn more about themselves and one another on our challenge course. Add in plenty of time for solo devotions and large group worships and you’ll have a solid, faith building experience.

Athletic Teams

Create positive, team-focused environments. Working with trained facilitators, team members will have to put the group’s goals above their individual goals in order to accomplish the challenges presented to them. Your program can be designed according to the needs of your team. Work on goal setting and ways to achieve those goals. Allow team members to learn more about themselves and one another. Consider focusing onself-worth and being true to oneself. Many athletic teams schedule a challenge course experience during their pre-season training annually. Every athlete comes together in a place away from your school to create a vision for your season.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Pathways Challenge Course

How many people can you accommodate?

We need at least 8 participants to run a challenge course program. If your group is larger than 26 participants, we need at least five weeks notice.

What are the age requirements to participate?

Minimum age: In order for participants to get the most out of the program, we recommend that participants at least be in the fifth grade. Maximum age: There is no set maximum age limit. Anyone in reasonably good physical condition will be able to complete most of the challenges presented. Any participant who does not feel comfortable being physically involved in a challenge presented may choose to participate in other ways. Talk to a Pathways staff member for more detailed information.

What if I am afraid of heights?

No worries! Everyone can be involved in the experience even if he/she chooses not to physically participate in a challenge presented by our facilitators. For someone who is really afraid of heights, the act of putting on a harness and climbing two or three steps is a reason for a sense of accomplishment and earns applause from group members!

Is the challenge course safe?

Although challenge courses, by their nature, have inherent risks, Pathways works hard to reduce that risk. Pathways Challenge Course is built to ACCT standards (Association for Challenge Course Technology). Our trained facilitators inspect the course during every set-up and perform detailed quarterly inspections to ensure the highest level of operation. An outside inspection is also performed annually. All participants go through an orientation of the course and safety equipment (i.e. harnesses and helmets).

What if I want to be a chaperone, but don’t feel comfortable participating?

We encourage all chaperones to be physically involved in the challenge course program, but we also respect every individual’s choice to sit out of any activities that he/she is not comfortable with. If you don’t want to physically participate, you can be involved mentally and emotionally by offering your words of encouragement. Remember, even if you plan on just watching, you still need to complete a waiver and health statement.
