Ways to Give

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

Thank you for interest in giving to Pathways Lutheran Outdoor Ministries! Your gifts ensure that the cost of camp for youth remains affordable and funds are available for scholarships for those who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to participate in the faith-building, praise-filling, Christ-centered, and often life-changing camping experience!

Pathways offers several giving options if God is leading you to give financially. We would also be happy to talk with you more about your personal giving plans and set up a plan that would work best for you and your family.

Cash Gifts

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

Thank you for believing in the work of Pathways and for your interest in giving a cash gift. These gifts can be given at any time via cash, check, or credit card with the happiness in knowing they will help in making an immediate difference.

USD

Thank you for helping us to bring the Gospel to thousands of youth, adults and families each year through programs at Lake of the Woods Bible Camp, Camp Emmaus and Camp Minne-Wa-Kan and through off-site programs like Day Camp, Adventure Outfitters, and Adult Travel Events!

Matching Gifts

Pathways continues to partner with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and its members to help boost your individual gifts through their GivingPlus program.

Thrivent Financial will contribute $1 for every $2 donated by members to Pathways. So a member may give up to $600 a year and Thrivent will then contribute $300. This significantly impacts the amount Pathways receives as your gift would end up totaling $900!

Take advantage of this terrific program!

If you are not currently a Thrivent member, check out their website to locate your nearest Financial Representative.

In-Kind Donations

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

Thank you for your interest in the Pathways Lutheran Outdoor Ministries! Pathways has a deep and meaningful history at each of our camps, and we are excited about the future God has in store for you and Pathways! In-Kind gifts helps Pathways to be a good steward by reusing items at the camps. They also help keep camp affordable by reducing the amount of supplies and items we need to purchase to run the ministry.

Are you interested in looking at some of the ways you can make a difference though In-Kind giving? These new or gently used items might be found in your:

  • Home
  • Garage
  • Office
  • Shop or Business
  • At a retail store when things are on sale
  • At the thrift store (if they are in good condition)
  • At church (if they are not being used)

Camperships

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

Pathways Goal: Everyone who wants to come camp WILL HAVE the opportunity to participate in our faith-building, praise-filling, Christ-centered camp experience! Therefore financial assistance is available to campers who cannot afford to pay the entire fee.

You can designate a gift to go directly into this fund to help more and more youth experience camp each year. Please designate your gift ‘For Camperships,’ via a note, the check memo line, or a call/email if you are giving online.

Memorials & Honorariums

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

Thank you for considering a Memorial or Honorariums gift. What a wonderful way to recognize your friend on their special day or remember your friend or loved one after their passing.

These gifts may be given at any time or multiple times throughout the year. Pathways has created memorial and honorarium cards that you may send to your friend, loved one or their family. Alternatively, when you send your gift to Pathways, you can enclose a small note and the name and address of the recipient, and we will be happy to send it directly on your behalf. If it is important to you to remain anonymous, we are happy to respect that as well.

Honorarium ideas:

  • Birthday
  • Anniversary
  • Baptism
  • Confirmation
  • Christmas
  • Graduation

Memorial ideas:

  • In lieu of flowers
  • For youth camperships
  • A gift that may honor the passions and interests of your loved one. Examples: a son/daughter of a nurse may choose to direct their gift towards first aid supplies for camp; to honor an outdoor enthusiast, one may choose to designate their gift towards canoes or tents.

Pledge Gifts

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

Thank you for considering Pathways with your pledge gift. By making a pledge to give over the course of a year or longer, you may experience the goodness of a long-term partnership in ministry. Often pledges are larger gifts broken down into yearly, manageable gifts.

Planned Giving

Jesus said “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Luke 12:34) Where is your heart?

As Christians, we are the caretakers of the unique God-given gifts we have received. Rejoice in your talents by being a lifelong steward and consider the distribution of your estate as the last witness of your faith. Just think – you can continue your Christian stewardship by providing for the work of the church long after your life ends.

Through proper planning, your will, IRAs, life income agreements, life insurance, and investment gifts could be gifted through your estate planning to Pathways Lutheran Outdoor Ministries and leave a lasting legacy for generations that follow you.

Pathways is pleased to announce that we, along with the Northwestern Minnesota Synod and Luther Crest Bible Camp, have received a Charitable Gifting grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. We will be sure to keep you up-to-date on the details of this grant, but for now please read the press release .

Pathways invites you to be aware of the free services of the ELCA Foundation and Thrivent Financial for information regarding aspects of charitable estate planning, including charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, outright gifts and bequests for ministry.

Wills & Bequests

If you have a passion for youth, family and adult ministries and understand how important the role of Bible camp is to faith development, consider leaving a legacy to Pathways after you are gone.

The first step in this process is to develop a will. 80% of givers give through bequests, but alarmingly only 30% of people have a will when they pass away. A will helps to provide for your loved ones, allows you the opportunity to give a percentage of your remaining estate to Pathways and/or your favorite charity while safeguarding against probate costs.

To start writing your will, click these resources from the ELCA foundation and get started today!

IRAs

If you are interested in giving a gift to Pathways that you and your family can feel good about for many years to come, consider the IRA rollover gift. You can be satisfied in knowing that you have a hand in sharing the Gospel with thousands of youth each year, providing safe environments and quality Christ-centered programming. The IRA rollover gift is a simple and easy way to provide, while not increasing your taxable income. Simply contact your financial or tax expert and request that an amount be transferred to Pathways or simply change your IRA beneficiary designation to Pathways.

Charitable Gift Annuity, Charitable Remainder Trusts & Other Life Income Agreements

What a beautiful giving opportunity! By designating Pathways as the remainder beneficiary or as one of multiple beneficiaries, the Charitable Gift Annuity continues to provide you and your family with guaranteed annual income for the rest of your life while providing a considerable tax deduction. Upon your death, the remaining portion of the annuity will go towards planting seeds of faith in youth, adults and families at Pathways Lutheran Outdoor Ministries.

Another giving option where you may leave a legacy, while receiving fixed income or variable income is a Charitable Remainder Trust. This trust allows you to place irrevocable gifts into a trust for life or for a term of years not to exceed 20, with a named beneficiary (ies) while avoiding tax on capital gains. Again, the remaining funds would be made available to your beneficiaries, i.e. Pathways, upon your death, in order to continue the mission of Pathways Lutheran Outdoor Ministries.

To view the details, advantages and qualifications for the multiple types of Charitable Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts and other Life Income Agreements, check out the ELCA Foundation or Thrivent Financial Charitable Giving Options.

For more informationon Life Income Agreements, feel free to contact the Pathways office at 218-987-2600 or email Pathways.

Life Insurance

A creative way that may appeal to you and your family is a gift of life insurance as it offers many options for all levels of givers in all stages of their philanthropy. Leaving a Legacy to Pathways through life insurance is simple through one of these common options:

  1. Simply change the beneficiary on an existing policy
  2. Transfer ownership of your cash value life insurance policy to Pathways and your other favorite ministries and receive a tax deduction for the gift and for all additional premiums paid towards the policy
  3. Establish a new charitable life insurance policy where you will receive an income tax deduction for each gift towards the policy.

This list is not exhaustive of the possibilities around charitable life insurance, please check with your financial advisor. More information can be found on the website for Thrivent Financial.

Investment Gifts

Gifts such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds and property are an excellent way to give an outright gift or a type of life income gift to help Pathways continue Christ-centered, year-round programming for generations to come.

By transferring ownership of your investment to Pathways, you may receive not only generous tax deductions (while you are still living) for the full market value of the gift, but also reduce sizable capital gains.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the ELCA Foundation have some great information available on investment gifts.
